What After Effects is for
After Effects is Adobe's motion graphics and compositing app. You animate layers with keyframes, track motion, and cut a person out of a shot with Roto Brush, Adobe's AI-assisted rotoscoping tool, so text or graphics can sit behind them. It's how many of the effects you see in edited reels are made — by hand, shot by shot.
After Effects price in India
Adobe India lists After Effects at ₹733.96 a month including GST on the annual plan billed monthly, with a 7-day free trial. It's also part of Creative Cloud Pro, listed at ₹2,714 a month (₹1,199 a month in the first year for new subscribers when we checked on 11 Oct 2026).
Alpha's free templates cost nothing; premium templates are ₹50–₹120 once — see pricing.
Hardware: a PC with 16 GB of RAM
Adobe's system requirements list Windows 11 or macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer and 16 GB of RAM as the minimum. There is no After Effects for phones. Alpha Studio runs in a modern browser, renders on your phone, and there's an Android app; your clips never leave your device.
How the outline and text-behind-you effects are made
In After Effects you rotoscope the person, duplicate layers, add glows and keyframe each move — great control, hours of work. In Alpha those looks are part of the template: the electric body outline in 19 templates, text behind you in 9, game HUDs and TV score cards in 10, smooth speed ramps in 25. On-device AI finds you in each clip and applies them.
These are effects from the original edit, not filters. The limit: you get the looks the templates have, not new ones.
Learning curve and reels you can make today
After Effects takes serious practice; compositing a clean text-behind-you shot is a skill of its own. Alpha takes none. Today all 29 templates are gym reels — transformations, flex edits, gym memes — while Garba, Navratri, birthday and couple templates are still coming.
